Emergent Game Technologies, the company behind the middleware solution Gamebryo Element, has just announced support for the Nintendo Wii. The Wii joins the PC, Xbox, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as platforms supported by Emergents game engine. No particular technical information about the Wii version of the engine has been made available.

"We are delighted to announce the Wii port of our Gamebryo engine. With the success of Nintendo's Wii console catching much of the industry off guard and offering fresh interactive features, developers need new tools to be able to develop for multiple platforms that offer vastly different capabilities and require different programming techniques," said Geoffrey Selzer, chief-executive-officer of Emergent.

For those to whom this game engine sounds unfamiliar, Gamebryo is a middleware game development solution, now at version 2.3, used in a widespread selection of games, such as Bethesda’s games Morrowind, Oblivion and now Fallout 3, Firaxis’ Civilization 4, and Mythic’s upcoming Warhammer Online.
