Company Anticipates Market Leadership for IDT PanelPort™ Device

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 25, 2008-- IDT® (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; NASDAQ: IDTI), a leading provider of essential mixed signal semiconductor solutions that enrich the digital media experience, today announced the availability of a DisplayPort receiver and timing controller (TCON) device for inclusion in flat panel displays for monitors, notebooks, and LCD TV displays. The new IDT DisplayPort™-compatible receiver solution, named PanelPort™, is a receiver and timing controller (TCON) device slated to be integrated in flat panel products currently in development.

The IDT PanelPort device offers original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) an increased level of digital signal integrity by significantly reducing electromagnetic interference (EMI) on all monitor or display device interfaces by utilizing IDT spread spectrum clocking technology. The PanelPort device is able to achieve this level of digital signal integrity through its unique incorporation of in-house customizable serializer/deserializer (SerDes) and industry leading IDT serial interface and timing technologies. Following the IDT corporate initiative to improve customer power efficiency whenever possible, the IDT customized PanelPort solution - which includes an embedded TCON for notebook applications - is architected to improve performance by extending battery life and reducing power consumption through optimal thermal management, thus enabling further differentiation for the flat panel display market.

As a significant proportion of display manufacturers are seeking to integrate DisplayPort technology into their products in 2008, we see a large market opportunity for IDT,” said Ji Park, vice president and general manager of the IDT Digital Display Operation. “IDT ties well into this burgeoning opportunity as it has a rich history in developing products based on its serial interface and timing expertise. We’ve leveraged that expertise with our existing TCON technology and the result is our PanelPort device. Combined together with our focus on leading emerging standards, IDT is in a great position to add value to our customers in their adoption of the DisplayPort standard. In fact, by taking advantage of our SerDes and spread spectrum clocking technology, we have been able to optimize our PanelPort device to enable our OEM customers to lower EMI on each digital audio/video interconnect interface.”

Brian O’Rourke, principal analyst, Multimedia Group at In-Stat noted, “DisplayPort is establishing itself as the next-generation digital connectivity option among PCs and LCD monitor vendors, and IDT, with its commitment to display technologies, is well positioned to benefit from DisplayPort’s emergence.”

“AMD is pleased to be working with companies like IDT to help continue driving the advancement and adoption of DisplayPort technology,” said Matt Skynner, vice president of marketing, Graphics Products Group, AMD. “Like IDT, we believe in the potential of the DisplayPort interface and see it as a possible future replacement for VGA and DVI. DisplayPort has the necessary foundation to deliver incredible performance in displays as well as address the growing bandwidth concerns of any high-resolution audio and video application.”

The IDT PanelPort device is fully compliant to the DisplayPort 1.1a standard. Additionally, the device supports full video interface and include security encryption through HDCP1.3 The PanelPort four lane receiver device is capable of supporting up to WQXGA (2560x1600 @ 60Hz) display mode for monitor panels as well as two-lane 1920x1080 @ 60Hz and for notebook panels. The IDT VPP1600EMG PanelPort device supports cabling of 15 meters for added user flexibility.

IDT will be participating in the upcoming VESA “Plugfest” in Japan on March 26 - 28, 2008.

Pricing and Availability

The IDT VPP1600EMG PanelPort device is available in a 100-pin TQFP (thin quad flat pack) package. The device is priced at $5 in quantities of 10,000. For additional information on the IDT PanelPort device visit

About the DisplayPort Standard

The DisplayPort interface standard, as approved by the video electronics standard association (VESA), is designed to be available throughout the industry as an open, extensible standard. DisplayPort was developed to reduce platform costs and drive a common digital interface across PC platforms and components. DisplayPort allows high-definition digital audio to be available to the display device over the same cable as the digital video signal and delivers true plug-and-play with robust interoperability. It is cost-competitive with existing digital display interconnects. For additional information on DisplayPort or on VESA visit
