3DProphet 9700 PRO
The ultimate warrior, the beast; Hercules version of the ATI9700 Pro. Hercules placed a new copper based, ultra silent fan on this baby. On top of that there are heatsinks on the ram and VPU on both sides. All motherboards (except for an old Asus dual pentium II cpu board) will work with this card. The card will be shipped with Morrowwind: The Elder Scrolls III, PowerDVD 4.0XP and 3Deep. This card is targetted at the hardcore gamer and comes at a heavy pricetag of 529 Euro (recommended retail price).

Although we talked about DirectX 9, there were no demos showing off DirectX 9 stuff. This because Microsoft still did not release Dx9. ATI is allowed to show running DirectX 9 demos, Hercules however is not. Now wavey did already a marvellous job looking at the features in the 9700. But I have some shots from demos from Hercules showing off some features of the 9700.

Displacement mapping

Now look at that, pretty cool eh? Displacement mapping adds real depth to surfaces. As to bumpmapping, where depth is an illusion with serveral texture layers. I think either Dave or me will look into this feature later on. More pictures of what the 9700 is capable of, you can find at the Hercules website
